Chartered In Shawnee, Kansas
The original Covered Wagons chapter formation
committee selected Shawnee, Kansas as our "home city" since it is approximately
in the center of our chapter area.
|
As
it turns out, the City of Shawnee independently commissioned the design
and construction of a small park area with a huge monument depicting covered
wagons crossing through the territory!
The park is located at the boundary
between the cities of Merriam and Shawnee, Kansas, on Shawnee Mission Parkway,
just west of I-35. The monument is in place, as shown in the photo above.
Isn't it great how the City of Shawnee
is honoring the formation of our Covered Wagons Chapter! LOL! (That's instant/text
messaging shorthand for "Laugh Out Loud")

that's how it got started.
On
Sunday, November 5, 2006, about 3 PM, Loretta Marlowe sent an email to
Dianna Mitts, FMCA, for a Chapter Formation Kit.
November
6th, Christy Budai, Chapter Services Coordinator replied to
the request wanting to know what type of chapter she would like to form
