May 22-24 (25)    Memorial Day Weekend:   Emporia RV Park & Campground, Emporia, KS.  Set aside a block of 21 sites and will have use of the office building for portions of our weekend.  $22.50 for 30AMP full hookups, $24.50 for 50 AMP full hookups (9 sites).  All prices are after other discounts. July15th               Caravan: We have 718 miles M/L to get from Kansas City/Blue Springs area to Bowling Green, Ohio.  We’ll take 3 days to get there.  Stay overnight Wed (193 miles) http://www.marktwaincave.com/campground.html, (you may want to arrive Tuesday so you can tour the area) then on to either dry camp overnight at Walmart or camp with hookups at Forest Glen Preserve by Westville http://www.vccd.org/recreation.html below Danville, Ill on Thursday night (224 miles) and then camp overnight Friday at Grand Lake by St Marys, Ohio http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/parks/tabid/737/Default.aspx (213 miles).  Saturday morning we’ll drive 88 miles to Bowling Green and into the rally.  The actual plans will be worked out as we get nearer the time.  Make your own reservations at Mark Twain campground.  The other two campgrounds on the trip don’t take reservations.

Note:  I reserved a block of sites in every campground I could, however, members NEED to call the campgrounds and make their individual reservation also.  Tell them you are with the Covered Wagons group.  Remember to send in your reservations for the FMCA & 6-State rallies.  And please let me know which rallies you are planning to attend and at which ones you've made reservations.

 Also please bring canned or fresh fruit for the fruit bowl on Saturday and Sunday mornings - gotta keep things moving!

We have a book/tape/audio cd exchange at each rally so bring your old ones for new ones!
 

NEW NO-HOST PROCEDURE:

  If we do not have a host for a rally, a schedule will be posted of duties that need to be done for our group.  Each CW  member attending the rally can sign up for the duty they would like to 'carry out' at that rally and will be responsible for doing that duty to the best of their ability.  The list will also contain duties that could be done if desired.  Below is the schedule - pick your delight and let the wagonmaster know of your choice when you let her know you're coming to the rally.  Much thanks!!!!

      CW HOSTING DUTY SCHEDULE

1 - Oversee the hosting duties and compute rally fees needed.

2 - Collect tourist info & make rally packets.

3 - Greet arrivals & offer parking assistance.  Please, do not assist unless requested.

4 - Present rally packet, collect rally fee.

5 - Friday evening Rally Warm-up get together.

6 - Make coffee & drinks for the weekend activities.

7 - Saturday morning breakfast. (Allow time after the meal for the business meeting)

8 - Saturday evening dinner.

9 - Saturday evening entertainment.

10 - Sunday morning breakfast

MISC:  Help clean tables/floors

           Help arrange pot-luck food table

           Help set up tables/chairs

           Help unload and load supplies from coach to the shelter and back

           Help with any of the above duties

           Donut go-getter!

           Jack of all Trades!

 

OTHER THINGS THAT COULD BE DONE:

  a - Arrange tour to local attractions

  b - Arrange and make restaurant reservations for early arrivals that wish to go out to eat together.

  c - Set up outdoor daytime games and/or recreation

  d - Craft session

  e - Day events/activities

   f - Build a shelter if needed from scratch!!!  LOL!
